Motivation for the project
Every child uses smartphones, tablets most of their time. They mostly play games, surf the net,use social media. They don’t produce anything. They use them just for fun. This has a negative effect on their creativity and productivity.Students have many mental abilities. As schools, we should direct their skills to more productive activities such as code writing. Coding helps them develop their creativity, makes them more productive users in technology. According to PISA 2016 report about maths success, the first seven countries are from Asia.Maths literacy is very low in European countries. We aim to improve students’ mathematical skills with coding. According to Lewis&Shah(2012), positive relation was found between coding and maths success.Coding will help our students develop analytical and algorithmic thinking skills and increase their maths success. According to Minuto et al.(2015), programming education was found to be effective in students’productivity and students see these methods as positive and interesting activities. Additionally,we can see smart systems everywhere. Companies are trying self-driving car. There’s software and coding behind these technologies. Owners of technology companies, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, are supporting coding through code.org all around the world. So each student needs to learn coding if they want to be succesful in future market. It is schools’ responbility to prepare them for the future.
Also students’ll learn basic robotics involving maths and science knowledge, be able to learn the basis of engineering and have opportunity to practise their theorical knowledge. These studies will attract our students and they’ll be more eager to study on maths and science. Moreover, participants’ll learn Web2.0 tools.ICT is getting more important everyday in education. The Z generation need different presentations in lessons. Also, as partners, we all have students coming from financially, socially disadvantaged students who has low interest in school subjects. They easily get bored from old methods. So teachers need to prepare their lessons with new technological tools to make lessons more interesting and enjoyable. In addition, students need to learn these tools for their future jobs. Our students will do projects on different subjects. They’ll write stories, draw pictures introducing their culturel elements, learn partner’s folk songs and sing in their native language and share them on etwinning. They’ll intensively use Web 2.0 tools while preparing and sharing their works. All paticipants will learn different cultures. This project’ll contribute to schools internationalization process and improve their European dimension.Teachers and students will be more motivated and understand lifelong learning process better.Participants’ll improve their foreign language. It will contribute to teachers’ occupational development.Participants’ll realize the differences between cultures and be more respectful to these differences.
